Shattilla Ekadashi Muhurat fasting practices are followed starting on the night of Dashmi, the tenth day of Magha month. Following these guidelines is intended to improve one’s life by bringing success and happiness. Let’s examine the traditions that must be followed on the date and time of Shattilla Ekadashi.

On the day of Shattila Ekadashi, devotees are required to fast from food after nightfall.
According to Narad Puran, the devotee should take an early morning bath in water infused with sesame seeds after completing their regular tasks.
After having a bath, meditate while assuming the name of Lord Vishnu and making a fasting commitment.
Put a Lord Shri Hari Vishnu idol or image in your temple.
Douse the deity and its surroundings with a mixture of water including sesame seeds and Gangajal. Use sesame seeds to clean the idol or image in Panchamrit.
After the Ghatasthapana, light a ghee lamp, light some fragrance sticks, and offer flowers and sesame seed sweets to the Lord.
Enchant the Vishnu Sahastranama and do a pooja.
Reciting a Vishnu Aarti in front of the shrine’s idol of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu is advised.
Giving sesame seeds is one of the most important customs on this auspicious day since it is believed that the number of sesame seeds you donate will determine how many days you spend in paradise.

A wealthy woman previously lived and gave away a significant amount of her fortune to charity. She granted everyone’s wishes about money, clothing, and valuables, with the exception of hunger. Since she didn’t donate food, which is supposed to be the most meritorious act, Lord Krishna felt he should make her aware of this. He then pretended to be a beggar and requested food from the woman. Reluctant to offer him food, the woman requested him to leave.

The beggar persisted in staying there and pleading for food. She insulted him by dropping a clay ball in his bowl out of frustration. After thanking her, the beggar left. The woman was horrified to see that everything she had prepared had turned to clay when she returned home. Additionally, everything she bought to prepare food turned to clay, making it impossible for her to eat anything at this point. She was so hungry that her health began to decline.

The woman started pleading with Lord Krishna to deliver her. The lady was reminded of the occasion where she gave the beggar a ball of clay as an insult when the Lord showed up in her dream. And he informed her that she had this tragedy as a result of that incident. In order to regain what she had lost, he advised the woman to observe Shattila Ekadashi Vrat and provide food to the hungry. After doing so, she regained her wealth. After that, she concentrated on giving meals.
